Thank you, Jack, for inspiring a country (and me!). You are truly missed and although my heart aches I am comforted by the continued outpouring of support. Together we will make a better Canada. Your legacy lives on, thank you for your tireless work.
Salut Jack. Merci pour tout, je me souviens: "L’amour est cent fois meilleur que la haine. L’espoir est meilleur que la peur. L’optimisme est meilleur que le désespoir."
When I was 13 I would drop off NDP Flyers into peoples mail boxes. He was the one I couldn't wait to vote for. We can not forget his message about love, hope and optimism. I wish I could have met him.
I’m remembering a man whose leadership was exemplified by its strength and integrity; a man who fought tirelessly for the inclusion of all. I’m remembering Jack and hope that my small contribution will prove to be representative of his mentorship.
One year ago I stood in line with my 2 month old son to pay my respects to a great man whose legacy inspires the way I teach my children about the world, love, equality and our great country. We miss you so much Jack.
You expressed succinctly what I try each day to model for my students. In a very complex world your message is an ideal worth aiming for. Your resolute egalitarianism was admirable. You are missed.
250 characters doesn't seem like enough to really express how much you mean to Canadians. There is a new generation of us coming to take charge in Ottawa, and that is thanks to you Jack, you were and remain to be Canada's greatest warrior. Miss you
Merci Jack d'être encore aujourd'hui, une source d'inspiration pour tout un peuple.
To my generation you were the politician we connected with – your bike, your sarcasm – the trustache! More importantly you believed change was possible. Your life ignited a generation of activists, hoping to live our lives in love, hope & optimism.
Like my father at 61, you were taken from me, and all of us, far too young. And just like my father, I'm grateful for the time I had with you and learning from you.
With much love and affection, I thank you.
A year today you had to go
One of the saddest days I will ever know
Watched our country to see it react
You asked us all to love and act
Canadians replied with tears and chalk
You've inspired us to walk the walk
Tansi Jack. Thinking of you with gratitude today. Thank you for standing up for Aboriginal people and other under-represented communities. You continue to inspire me to help our communities find their voices.
You shook my daughter's hand when she was four and took the time to talk to her. She's growing up to be a politically aware kid. Another activist is born.
Dear Jack, Your legacy will last forever. 浩氣長存.
Jack’s tireless efforts, courage & integrity inspire us to support the New Democrats in fighting for a better Canada. We’re grateful to Jack & Olivia for their support in seeking redress for the Chinese Head Tax and Chinese Exclusion Act.-Fong Family
I truly appreciated Jack's work with human rights issues. I believe he inspired many to think about their beliefs and actions as it relates to our diverse communities.
Jack was an amazing person with Amzing Dreams. We only see that kind of person once in a While. Jack was take from us too early on earth, But forever will he be in our hearts, and our spirits. Miss ya "Uncle Jack"
You cannot go anywhere in Toronto without seeing his legacy. Take the wind turbine at Ex Place. Jack lobbied, schemed, and fundraised for it. He transformed our urban and personal landscapes! Thanks, Jack! Phil Jessup
Cher Jack, vous avez transformé le monde de la politique à votre image. Je transporte avec moi , chaque jour, votre message d'amour , d'espoir et d'optimiste. Votre départ précipité a laissé un grand vide, que votre souvenir ne s'estompe jamais.

Thank you so much for what you gave this country: your dedication to helping the most vulnerable, your personal and professional commitment to the environment, and a leadership style that inspired so many across political lines
Jack's voice encourages me to stay positive,to stand up for what is just and fair,to never give up.It reminds me that I too need to commit to bringing about positive change in my community,my province, and my country.

Jack continues to be a source of inspirationa and hope for us as we meet the challenges of a narrow corporate political agenda. We want a "people and environment" first agenda! Joyce Harris, B.C. Sisters of St. Ann Social Justice Committee
I miss you so much Jack – our country misses you, too. I miss your strength, your commitment, your honesty, your goodness. I just feel sad knowing you are not here to lead us. We must push on but it's so hard without you. xo
